Things to do in Garland
Garland is a work in progress so this is an incomplete list of things you can do in the current Alpha Tester 1.2.5 release.
Quick save or load during gameplay:
Quick save: CTRL/Apple+S
Quick load: CTRL/Apple+L.
(If you are a tester do this a lot just in case!)

INSTALLATION:
Delete any old version and double click to open/install.
- Locate your save file.
- Copy to a safe place.
- Delete previous game version and install new version.
- Paste save files back into the correct folder of the new version.
Relationships
Relationships are an important part of city life. Through the game you can make friends, develop romantic relationships and eventually even move in together or get married.
Currently available:
- Get to know 22 NPCs.
- Give them gifts to learn their likes and dislikes.
- First meeting events with all NPCs and daily dialogue options.
Relationship events:
- Hannah Event 1 – visit the Medical clinic at night.
- George Event 1 – visit the Library at night.
- Leon Event 1 – visit the Cedar Court lobby in the afternoon after day 6.
Apartment Building Upgrades
The main plot of Moonlight in Garland involves upgrading your apartment and getting to know the residents.
Moving in:
- Move into a new apartment (only Cedar Court currently available).
- Six “Welcome to Garland” quests you can complete once you rent your apartment that help introduce you to the city.
Building upgrade events:

Cedar Court Event 1 – Visit the lobby after day 3 in the afternoon.

Cedar Court Event 2 – Visit the lobby after day 5 and after you’ve already finished the “Clean the lobby” quest to redecorate!
Your apartment:
- Store your stuff in your fridge.
- Garden on your bedside table.
- Sleep in your bed to regain health and move time forward to the next day.
- Receive mail in the lobby.
- Relaxation check points- if you look out your bedroom window near the oven you can see the view! Chill as long as you like and listen to any music you’ve unlocked in the game.
- Recycle rubbish in the lobby
- Complete daily tasks from the noticeboard.
Errands, Quests and Recycling
Daily errands:
- Delivery – Find and deliver something to an NPC. (paid on delivery)
- Recycling – Find and deliver something to the recycling bin. (money available next day in your bank account)
- Graffiti – Clean 3 trees using your cleaning cloth. (money available next day in your bank account)
Cleaning cloth – Hold the cloth and tap E to clean.
Delivering an item – Hold the item and press E when in range of the NPC/Recycling bin
Quests:
- Spend the first 2 days arranging to move in to your new apartment.
- 6 x “Welcome to Garland” quests to introduce you to the city.
- 2 x Cedar Court upgrade quests
- 3 x relationship event quests
- Photograph all 8 animals.
Health:
- Physical energy – Energy decreases the more active you are. If you run out of energy you will pass out and wake up the next day in bed. Eat or sleep to regain energy.
- Mental energy – Mental energy effects you life too. If your mental health dips too low you will be surrounded by purple miasma. Eat, sleep, do quests or visit a relaxation check point to gain mental energy.
- Sleep – Mental and physical energy is effected by sleep. You won’t pass out at 2am every night but if you go days without sleep your physical and mental energy will drain much faster.
Other:
- Explore 5 suburbs and 50+ buildings.
- Take the train to 5 stations.
- Use ATM’s to access the money in your bank account.
- Shop for items or food in stores.
- Make money by collecting trash and selling it to shops or the recycling bin.
- Sit down on a bench and watch the world go by.
Gardening
- Plant, water and grow 4 kinds of plants on your bed side table.
- Harvest with cutters from the florist once fully grown.
- Water your plant every day otherwise it will wilt and die.
- If your plant dies you will need to use the cutters to remove it and start again.
- Once your plant is fully grown it will sparkle and you can harvest it with cutters to sell.
Photography
- Use your camera to snap pics of the local wildlife and fill your diary with cute photos of 8 different animals.
To use the camera, hold it and press E when in range of an animal. Animal photos are stored in your notebook.
