A historical building that was once beautiful, it is now falling apart from years of neglect due to budget problems.
Building conflict
The council is considering removing its heritage protections if the building doesnât do the required maintenance. If this happens, property developer Steven is considering buying the building to demolish and build a carpark on the land.

Work with the residents to restore the building to its former glory on a budget.

Design Style
Historical, art deco, classical. Starts out dirty and broken but is restored to its former glory through the course of the game.
History and Trivia
Built as an office building for a prestigious law firm in the early 1900âs, Cedar Court is a majestic building that was once famous for its marble floors and for having the first fully electric elevator system in Garland.
After being converted to apartments in the early 50âs, the building went through a series of changes in structure and ownership until it hit a period of financial distress in the 90âs where building management stripped and sold anything not nailed down to cover maintenance costs.
Since then it has fallen into disrepair and while surrounded by other beautiful buildings from the era, it remains a shell of its former self.
- Cedar Court was the first apartment option available to choose in Moonlight in Garland.

Objective
Move in and learn about your new apartment building.

Summary
You arrive at Cedar Court and meet Léon in the lobby. He is rude and angry that as per usual, no one told him there was a new resident moving in. He gets your keys and gives you a quick tour of the lobby, mailbox, recycling bin and noticeboard explaining the function of each one.
You follow him through the lift to your new apartment where Cecile is waiting. She welcomes you warmly and playfully admonishes Leonâs bad mood. Ryan called her rather than LĂ©on about your arrival because didnât want to deal with grump Leon.
Cecile gifts you a little pot and a seed for a plant that she found while cleaning the apartment.
Cecile and Léon leave you to settle in.

Event 1 - Things look bad!

Learn about the problems in your building and scrub the floor.

Summary
You arrive at Cedar Courtâs lobby sometime after your first week in town. You overhear Cecile and LĂ©on arguing in the building manager office. Cecile wants LĂ©on to find a way to fix the building but LĂ©on insists thereâs no money to do so.
Cecile notices you and explains that the council is frustrated by the deteriorating condition of the building and is threatening to take away its heritage status. LĂ©on explains that thereâs no money to fix anything and property developers are just waiting for it to be knocked down so they can build another hotel on the land.
You and Cecile decide that maybe if you make some small improvements, the council will give you some more leeway with the other issues. Léon sulks in the office.
You both remove the rug in the lobby and scrub the floor of dirt to reveal the beautiful marble art-deco tiling beneath it. Léon previously gave up cleaning because residents keep tracking in dirt.
Happy with the progress, Cecile leaves to call the council. LĂ©on seems vaguely interested and tells you that you better not disappoint his wife because heâs going to hear about it all week now.

Event 2 - Fix up the lobby!
PART 1 - COUNCIL CONFRONTATION
Objective
Looks like the Garland City Council is pressuring Leon to pack it in!

Summary
You arrive at Cedar Court Lobby and hear Léon arguing with a council worker.
The council worker is saying that Cedar Court no longer deserves itâs heritage status because the previous management sold off all the marble in the lifts, the art deco furniture and copper detailing. Unless these details are replaced, there is no heritage value and the building can be sold to Stephen the developer. Stephen isnât a bad guy but heâs really only focused on making a profit rather than community benefit.The council worker gives LĂ©on a deadline to replace the items and leaves.
LĂ©on is dejected and you go to talk to him. Thereâs no way the building can afford to replace all those items. I guess itâs up to you!

PART 2 - GOT THE STUFF
Objective
Gather materials to redecorate the lobby and take them to Leon.

Summary
Once you have the materials, you meet Leon back at the lobby. Together you fix up the lobby and furnish it with beautiful period furniture. Cecile and Patrick walk in, they are shocked at the transformation!
Patrick asks you to take some photos of the new lobby so they can update their report and ask for an extension. You take the photos and everyone is happy with the progress... Except Leon because it means more work for him. But he begrudgingly thanks you anyway.

Summary
Past the building managerâs office thereâs a storage room full of junk. Now that more residents are taking notice of the building, they need somewhere to hold resident meetings! How convenient would that storage room be?
LĂ©on doesnât want you to clear it out because the residents would probably just wreck the place like LAST TIME. Cecile is interested in the idea though so maybe if you work together with a few of the residents to fix up the room you can convince Leon?
